AGENTPR unveils AI tool to help simplify media, public reactions

AGENTPR Founder, Dr Celestine Achi,

African-built AI-powered media intelligence platform for public relations and communications teams, AGENTPR™, has introduced managed AI-agent access to its intelligence environment, allowing authorised communications professionals to interact directly with organisational media intelligence through AI assistants.

The new capability enables compatible AI agents and assistants, including ChatGPT and Claude, to securely interrogate intelligence held within AGENTPR, ranging from media coverage and delivered intelligence reports to emerging signals identified through its SignalWatch™ framework. Instead of searching through multiple dashboards, feeds and reports, users can increasingly ask direct questions about what has changed, what matters and which signals require attention.

AGENTPR said the capability has been deliberately designed around trust, with access restricted to read-only, consent-based and permission-aware interactions. AI assistants inherit the organisation and brand permissions of the signed-in user, preventing them from accessing intelligence beyond the user’s authorised scope.

The company said the approach is intended to make AI a secure interface to existing organisational intelligence rather than simply adding a chatbot to a media-monitoring platform.

According to AGENTPR Founder, Dr Celestine Achi, however, the bigger challenge facing communications intelligence is not simply how professionals access information, but whether technology can accurately understand the context behind communication.

Traditional media monitoring has become increasingly effective at finding mentions, measuring coverage, classifying sentiment and summarising conversations, but Achi said communication often carries meanings that cannot be understood from words alone.

He noted that the company’s research is therefore focused on developing what it describes as context-aware communications intelligence, technology capable of considering cultural nuance, sarcasm, irony, coded language, local expressions, stakeholder relationships and situational context when interpreting communications. A statement that appears positive to a conventional sentiment-analysis system, for example, could communicate criticism or carry a very different meaning within a particular cultural or social setting.

“Communications teams are not short of information. The harder problem is meaning,” Achi said, explaining that the company’s research is examining whether machines can recognise sarcasm, cultural codes and situations where apparently positive language communicates criticism. She said the work is based on human-labelled research, with annotators undergoing calibration to help build a stronger foundation for investigating how machines can better interpret contextual signals.

The research is being developed alongside AGENTPR’s application in live strategic communications environments. The company is currently the Official Media Intelligence Partner for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) Abuja 2026, where its intelligence capabilities are being applied across the communications lifecycle of the global public relations gathering. A central component is SignalWatch™, which follows a framework of Detect, Verify, Meaning, Action and Outcome, emphasising that identifying a signal is only the beginning of the intelligence process.

AGENTPR said the addition of AI-agent access creates a new interface through which authorised users can interrogate SignalWatch™ signals alongside media coverage and intelligence reports already available within their permitted environment. Achi stressed that the objective is not to replace professional judgement but to provide communications teams with better evidence and context for decision-making.

“This is not about putting a chatbot on top of a media-monitoring platform. It is about changing the interface between intelligence and decision-making,” he said.

The company sees the development as part of a broader progression from media monitoring to media intelligence, context-aware communications intelligence and, ultimately, agent-assisted communications. While traditional monitoring largely answers the question of what was said, modern media intelligence seeks to establish what is happening and why it matters.

AGENTPR’s latest research goes further by examining how technology can understand what a signal means within its cultural, narrative, stakeholder and reputational context, while AI agents could then help professionals interrogate that evidence and support action.

Africa’s diverse communications environment is central to the company’s research agenda. AGENTPR said conversations across the continent move between mainstream and digital media, broadcast platforms, communities and informal networks, often carrying cultural and contextual meanings that cannot be reliably inferred from words alone.

Achi argued that this complexity should be viewed not only as a technological challenge but also as an opportunity for Africa to contribute to the development of more culturally intelligent communications technology.

“For too long, African context has been something technology has had to be adapted to understand. What if African context becomes one of the places from which the next generation of communications intelligence is actually taught?” Achi said.

He added that Africa should not enter the agentic era merely as a consumer of technologies developed elsewhere, but should contribute to defining what context-aware, culturally intelligent and responsible communications AI should become.

The managed AI-agent capability is now live on AGENTPR, while its research into context-aware communications intelligence remains ongoing.

The company said further findings and developments are expected as the research progresses. For Achi, the direction of the industry is increasingly clear: the future of PR intelligence will depend less on accumulating more information and more on understanding evidence in context and translating it into meaningful action.
