Former Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Ekiti State, Prince Adetoyi Olabode has lamented over shortage of farmers and processors in the country.
Olabode said their numbers will improve food security in the country. He made this known to Journalists on Wednesday morning while looking at the Agricultural value chain in the country.
Adetoyi added that there is little or no intentionality on the parts of governments at all levels. He, therefore, called on both the Federal and State Governments to be intentional in supporting local farmers in Nigeria.
“Food security can been addressed now if we can have more farmers and processors.
“Governments at all levels are not helping matters.
‘Hence, both state and federal governments should be intentional in supporting us and make the enabling environment conducive.” He said
Meanwhile, Adetoyi, who is also The Founder of Value Ingredients Limited lauded the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) for the approval of the company’s products.
The Company’s products include Poundo Yam, Fufu Flour, Plantain Flour, Value Ogi and Garri.
