ASACCIMA seeks level play for private sector
The President, ASACCIMA, Emma Moweta, made this known yesterday in Asaba, at the ASACCIMA 2017 Business Lecture with theme, “Staying in business in changing times; a Nigeria perspective.”
He said ASACCIMA advocates for a better business environment, to create job opportunities, and improve the economy through industrialisation, adding that the business community is currently facing serious economic challenges that require a new course for the nation’s sustainable growth and development.
Moweta however commended the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for putting in place policies and programmes capable of revamping the state’s economy, particularly ensuring job opportunities for the teaming youths.
He charged entrepreneurs to devise genuine ways of identifying and pursuing enterprises that would enable businesses combine the factors of production to create value wealth.
He reiterated the need for adaptation to changes in business conditions, and listed some of the elements for change to include; globalisation, outsourcing, internet, computer technology, value creation, team work, and continuous skills up-scaling of workforce, work flow networking, and management style.
Meanwhile, in line with the SMART Agenda, the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), has opened tender bid for nationalities projects as approved by the State House of Assembly.
DESOPADEC Managing Director, Olorogun Williams Makudi, who made this known to journalists in Asaba yesterday, reiterated the Commission’s quest to deliver the dividend of democracy to oil producing communities in the state, while insisting on adherence to due process in contracts award.
He said the Commission will soon deliver completed centralised projects, while expressing joy with the level of development brought to the communities as a result of the projects.
