Experts highlight role of technology in businesses, job creation

Experts in entrepreneurship, including Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, have called for the adoption of technology to enhance businesses, increase productivity and boost employment in the country.

Experts in entrepreneurship, including Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, have called for the adoption of technology to enhance businesses, increase productivity and boost employment in the country.

They spoke at the fifth A.M Agoro Entrepreneurship Lecture Series (AMAELS) in memory of the late Abudu Mukandasi Agoro, with the theme: “Leveraging Technology for Business Success and Growth”, at Yoruba Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.

The initiative offers a three-pronged approach to support entrepreneurs: grants, mentorship programmes and digital marketing training. The deputy governor, who led discussions at the event said technology is efficient in any kind of business and key to developing businesses in Nigeria.

Hamzat, who was represented by Dr. Shakirudeen Omosanya noted that Nigeria is a country that has a lot of youths that can be employed in technology field to help develop their knowledge.

“We must enhance technology to make sure people are employed, “ he added.

On her part, the Director at Dyslexia Nigeria and Vice Chairman of the AMAELS, Dr. Adrienne Tikolo, said businesses must adapt and evolve to thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape, especially in this era of rapid digital transformation.

It is crucial to recognize the immense potential that lies within technology, and how it can serve as a catalyst for innovation, and sustainable growth, she said.

Tikolo urged business leaders and entrepreneurs to unlock the full potential of technology within your entrepreneurial endeavours.

She stressed that the lecture series was aimed at sharing the passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and the remarkable possibilities that technology offers to transform our businesses and drive unprecedented growth and success.

Also, the Chairman of Caverton Helicopters PLC, Chief Aderemi Makanjuola, represented by the Group Managing Director, Mr. Bode Makanjuola, said the lecture educates and redirect entrepreneurial business mode of operation, by providing information, awareness, and contributing to knowledge that Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) require to grow their businesses.

Chief Makanjuola, who chaired the event, expressed the belief that the insights and perspectives shared in this lecture will be of immense value to entrepreneurs and business leaders in Nigeria and beyond.

Five entrepreneurs were at the event awarded AMAESI awards of N200,000 each to support their businesses.

The awardees are Founders of Bimwunmi Enterprise, Aisha Ibironke Mustapha, Founder of Spa Pampering at home, Oyekemi Alla, a Lagos entrepreneur in real estate, Keshinro Ayoola, a fashion designer, Jide Oluwamuyiwa and Cordwainer, Adenike Eromosele.
