Cormart inaugurates caramel plant to boost local industry
Cormart Nigeria, a chemicals and raw materials company, has commissioned a new caramel plant to boost local production of food and beverages.
The plant, located at its factory on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, can produce 15 metric tonnes of caramel per day and supply beverages, brewery and food industries with caramel as a colorant.
Its Executive Director, Martin Middernacht, disclosed this just as the plant manager, Olakunle Atoki, said: “We will be producing the caramel with three basic ingredients: dextrose, water and ammonia. It is called Class-3 or ammonia caramel.”
General Manager of Cormart, Dr Johannes Flosbach, also indicated that there were plans for expansion as daily orders increase ensure that “we give our customers a premium product which combines higher quality and a lower price than most imported products.”
