Court orders remand of defendant over alleged murder
An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Adamo Akinlabi, at the correctional service, over alleged murder.
Akinlabi, whose address was not stated, was charged on one-count of murder.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, did not however, take the plea of the defendant for lack of jurisdiction.
She, ordered the police to return the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to await legal advice.
The court, consequently, adjourned the case until March 13, for mention.
The prosecutor, Insp Kemi Oladapo, alleged that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 6, 2024, at about 10. 00 p.m. at the Moniya area of Ibadan.
Oladapo said that the defendant unlawfully caused the death of a 38-year-old man, one Afeez Olanrewaju, by shooting him on the head.
She said that the offence contravenes the provisions of section 319 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
