As part of the efforts to revolutionise revenue administration in Jigawa State and reinforcing commitment to digital transformation across Nigeria’s public sector, one of the country’s leading payment technology provider, eTranzact International Plc, has launched a comprehensive digital revenue collection platform
The innovative solution was unveiled during a stakeholders’ engagement and capacity-building programme organised in collaboration with the Jigawa Internal Revenue Service (JIRS), Wednesday in Dutse, the State Capital.
Over 90 revenue collectors, market leaders and key stakeholders were trained on the operation of the platform.
Designed to digitise revenue collection across livestock markets, grain markets, haulage operations and other informal sector activities, the platform replaces manual processes with a secure, automated and transparent electronic payment system.
Speaking at the launch, the Deputy General Manager and Group Head, Public Sector Division (States), eTranzact International, Mr Gabriel Essien, said the deployment demonstrates the company’s unwavering commitment to providing innovative technology solutions that strengthen governance and improve public sector efficiency.
He said: “Our mission is to empower governments with secure digital payment infrastructure that enhances transparency, accountability and operational efficiency. This platform delivers real-time transaction monitoring, eliminates revenue leakages and provides accurate data to support informed decision-making and sustainable economic development.”
He explained that the platform integrates multiple digital payment channels, including mobile wallets, Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals and other electronic payment solutions, enabling seamless collections while ensuring that all payments are electronically tracked and remitted directly into designated government accounts.
Also speaking at the event, the Regional Manager, Northwest, eTranzact International, Mr Nwabueze Ugwu, said the solution was developed after extensive stakeholder engagement to address the unique challenges associated with informal sector revenue collection.
According to him, the platform provides end-to-end automation that improves efficiency, strengthens accountability and gives government agencies complete visibility into revenue collections.
“Our technology is designed to simplify revenue administration while promoting trust, transparency and convenience for both government and taxpayers. By eliminating manual processes, we are helping public institutions maximise revenue and improve service delivery”, Ugwu said.
The Executive Chairman, Jigawa Internal Revenue Service, Dr Nasir Sabo-Idris, commended eTranzact International for delivering a robust digital solution that aligns with the state’s ongoing tax reforms and digital transformation agenda.
He noted that the initiative would further strengthen revenue administration by improving compliance, reducing leakages and equipping revenue personnel with modern technology tools.
During the event, participants expressed confidence in the platform after a live demonstration showcased its user-friendly interface, seamless transaction process and real-time reporting capabilities.
The successful deployment marks another milestone in eTranzact International’s expanding portfolio of public sector digital transformation projects, further positioning the company as a trusted technology partner for governments seeking to modernise revenue administration and accelerate financial inclusion.
