The plan to organise the first-ever international agricultural exhibition and conference in Africa, in Osogbo, Osun State, is gradually coming to reality.

The plan to organise the first-ever international agricultural exhibition and conference in Africa, in Osogbo, Osun State, is gradually coming to reality.

This is as SIFAX Group of Companies, a conglomerate of companies into the business of maritime, aviation, haulage, logistics and freight forwarding in Nigeria, has decided to bankroll the organisation of Agritech by 2018, in collaboration with the organisers, Fesco Agalu Nigeria Enterprises Limited.

Agrictech Nigeria Osun 2018, is being planned as Nigeria’s largest exhibition and conference on agriculture, farm machineries, dairy, poultry, water technology, livestock equipment, agriculture processing technologies and environmental control.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was signed between Fesco Agalu and SIFAX Group on Friday, in the office of the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security at the Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo.

The signing was witnessed by the Commissioner, Olakunle Ige; the Coordinating Director of the Ministry, Dr Olubukola Aluko; Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Remi Kolapo, and other top directors in the Ministry.

The General Manager, Legal Services, Tunji Olusinde, and the Corporate Affairs Manager, Muyiwa Akande, represented the SIFAX Group at the signing ceremony, while the Executive Director, Yahaya Majeed, led the Fesco Agalu team.

Ige expressed the State Government’s delight that the Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018 International Exhibition and Conference is gradually taking shape with the signing of the MOU.

He added that Osun will leave nothing to chance to ensure that enabling environment is provided for a successful event.
Olusinde of SIFAX Group said the sponsorship of the event was made possible by the company’s policy to encourage projects on agriculture, as Nigeria is diversifying from oil to agriculture.

He also commended the efforts of the Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola-led Government in the development of agriculture since inception, saying: “We are in this to make Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018 a successful, and a world class event.”

Yahaya on his part commended SIFAX Group for the sponsorship, saying the Group has a veritable platform to make the Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018 a success.

He also acknowledged the Governor’s efforts in making life better for the people of the state, while also commending the support being received from the Ministry of Agriculture.

He revealed that a delegation comprising Fesco Agalu, SIFAX Group, and top officials from the State, will visit Israel before mid-December, to flag off international engagements for the programme with their Israeli partner, Kenes Exhibition, organisers of the Agritech Israel, since the last 20 years, AGWATEC Israel, and Agritech India.

“We are extremely proud to bring this to State of Osun. As we all know, Israel is a pioneer in agricultural technology. Kenes Exhibition is bringing their years of experience in the organisation of agricultural exhibition and conference. We are expecting close to 1000 foreign exhibitors and local and international visitors of more than 400,000 in Osogbo for this event.

“This is a melting point where countries and individuals meet to discuss business opportunities in agriculture. It is an event where Africans meet their European counterparts without necessarily travelling to Europe. It is a platform for investors’ meeting to discuss businesses of mutual benefits. It will also promote Osun cultural tourism, as delegation from abroad would have the opportunity of seeing the beauty of Osun tourism during the event. Businesses in Osogbo will definitely have a feel of Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018, because there is no sector of the society that the programme won’t affect,” he said.
