LCCI’s forum to address operators’ challenges

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), will today, mark the maiden edition of the World Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSME) Day in a bid to address the challenges facing small business operators.

According to the Director-General of The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Muda Yusuf, this year’s celebration, which is scheduled to take place in Lagos at 10am, is designed to raise public awareness on MSMEs contribution to economic development

The Director General said: “the actual date declared as MSME Day by the General Assembly of the United Nations Organisation is 27th June. However, due to the Muslim holiday, which falls on this date, the chamber decided to move the celebration to Wednesday 28thJune, 2017 to allow for wider participation by stakeholders.”

Yusuf further stated that, “the 2017 MSME Day, as an event would focus on the challenges and prospects of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Nigeria”. “The aim of the forum, basically, is to raise public awareness on MSMEs contribution to economic development, job creation and inclusiveness.”

Yusuf also emphasized that seasoned professionals, entrepreneurs, leaders of businesses in the private sector, members of the diplomatic corps and top public sector officials would grace the occasion, as well as the Director, United nations Information Centre (UNIC) Lagos, Ronald Kayanja.
