Shipowners to discuss sector challenges in Lagos
The Shipowners Association of Nigeria (SOAN) has announced its plans to gather the cream de la crème in the maritime sector at its 2017 End of Year Workshop to discuss pertinent issues that have remained a clog in the wheel of the industry growth.
President of SOAN, Greg Ogbeifun, said the workshop is expected to bring together all shipowners in Nigeria, policy makers, notable business leaders, captains of the maritime industry in both the private and public sectors to examine measures by which the fortunes of the Nigerian maritime industry could be improved upon, so as to have meaningful contributions to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
According to him, the theme for the event this year is “Giving Critical Life-line to the Nigerian Maritime Industry”, and slated for Thursday, 7th December, 2017 at The Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Dignitaries expected at the event include: The Executive Governor of Edo State, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki; Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi; Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman among others.
Director General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration & Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside; Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Hassan Bello; Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, Commodore Emmanuel Effedua, among others.
The speakers are: Governor Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele; Partner, Paul Usoro & Co., Mrs. Mfon Ekong Usoro; The Executive Director of Large Enterprises at Bank of Industry (BOI), Mr. Simon Aranonu, and Chairman/MD, M.E Consulting Limited, Victor Eromosele.
