The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has assured families of victims of an accident involving a train and staff bus belonging to the Lagos State Government that they would receive adequate compensation from their underwriters if they were insured.

The President of the Council, Rotimi Edu, said this at the weekend. He expressed confidence that any of the victims’ dependents or the injured that were insured would not be left alone.

Edu said the sad passing of some of the victims and the injury sustained by others, who were majorly public servants with the Lagos State Government, were most disheartening.

He urged better management and control of the railway authority’s level crossing to avert similar disasters in the future, especially in busy or high-density areas. He also applauded the Governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for declaring a three-day mourning.

The National President of the Association of Registered Insurance Agents of Nigeria (ARIAN), Kunle Odewunmi, also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished the victims a speedy recovery.

He said the timely intervention of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authorities LASEMA as well as the visit of the governor to the hospital was highly commended. Kunle enjoined road users and motorists to be cautious, while going about their daily business activities.
