With Nigeria’s oil and gas industry achieving 61 per cent local content against a 70 per cent target for 2027, stakeholders will meet in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, from November 30 to December 3 to set priorities for the next phase of local content development.

The 15th Practical Nigerian Content (PNC) Forum, organised by dmg Nigeria Events in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), will focus on sustaining progress, closing capacity gaps and strengthening indigenous participation beyond the current 2017–2027 Nigerian Content Strategic Roadmap.

The discussions come amid increased upstream investment, including Shell’s $2 billion HI Field and $5 billion Bonga North projects, as well as the growing participation of indigenous operators following the divestment of assets by international oil companies.

Portfolio and Country Director of dmg Nigeria Events, Wemimo Oyelana, said the forum would focus on priorities for the next phase of local content development, including financing, project delivery and policy.

“PNC 2026 provides a platform for stakeholders to collectively shape those priorities, from funding and project delivery to the policy frameworks needed to sustain and deepen this progress,” Oyelana said.

Participants will examine access to capital for indigenous companies, procurement opportunities, supplier development and measures to strengthen local technical capacity.

They will also consider regulatory changes required to respond to market developments, technological changes and investor expectations.

The forum is expected to attract senior government and industry executives, including NCDMB Executive Secretary, Felix Ogbe; Shell Country Chair, Elohor Aiboni; TotalEnergies Nigeria Country Chairman, Matthieu Bouyer; Chevron Nigeria-Mid Africa Business Unit Chairman, Jim Swartz; and ExxonMobil Affiliates in Nigeria Chairman, Jagir Baxi.
