NPA to enforce 24 hours operations at ports
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has urged stakeholders at the nation maritime industry to collaborate effectively towards the actualisation of the tenets of the Executive Order across the seaports in the country.
NPA Managing Director of Hadiza Bala Usman, said her management is determined to ensure total adherence to the Presidential order concerning 24 hour operations at the Ports.
Usman, who inspected operations at the Lagos Ports Complex, Apapa from Saturday midnight to Sunday morning, assured that the Port environment has been prepared for total compliance to the order.
She charged agencies at the Ports to “work hand in hand prioritising information sharing as a tool to be utilised in this regards,” adding that there is no room for compromise on the wheel of progress to total obedience to this Executive Order.
She explained that she was at the ports to lead by example in the attempt for the Nigerian Ports and the nation at large to take its pride of place amongst comity of nations.
She continued, “As we come to the end of the ultimatum on the subject, we must work in unison and create pathways to efficiency. This is why we are in the trenches this night so that the work gets done. Therefore, it is appreciated if we go the extra mile on compliance and implementation of these regulations.”
Furthermore, she assured that the organisation was ready in all ramifications in highlighting safety and security of lives and cargoes in adherence to international statutes.
