The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), has won the “World Bank 2019 Doing Business Ranking Award,” for driving the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC’s) overall reform initiatives in the ports environment in 2018.

The Council, which is one of the priority MDAs within the scope of the Ease of Doing Business Reform Agenda, won the award based on its efforts in championing attainment of efficiency in trade facilitation in the ports among service providers.

The second Annual PEBEC Awards took place at the State House Conference Hall, which was hosted last week by PEBEC, and chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Osinbajo, in his address, explained that it was necessary to recognise stakeholders, who implemented impactful and landmark reforms in 2018 in their various sectors.

He further said the awards are also to recognise members of the private sector, who have expressly supported the intervention.

While congratulating the NSC management team led by its Executive Secretary, Hassan Bello, the Vice President urged the Council and other awardees to keep up the excellent work.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industry, Trade & Investment/PEBEC Secretary, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, said the PEBEC Awards is aimed at acknowledging and appreciating the efforts of specific arms of government, sub-national governments, ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), and private sector stakeholders, who contributed significantly in promoting the government’s ease of doing business policy.
