Educationists harp on diligence, discipline

Educationists have emphasised the need for students to embrace discipline, diligence and growth opportunities to achieve resounding success. The Provost, Wavecrest College of Hospitality, Rosana Forsuelo; and an expert in the hospitality industry, Feyisayo Oluwaseyi, stressed the need for students to embrace growth opportunities, and take calculated risks as they pursue their goals.

They spoke while addressing newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session. In her lecture titled, ‘Building blocks for leadership in hospitality: Navigating challenges with resilience,’ Oluwaseyi enjoined the students to embrace growth opportunities and take calculated risks as they pursue their goals.  She also stressed the need to be resilient in academic pursuit to attain excellence.

“The future of hospitality needs great leaders, who know the way, go the way and show the way.” Oluwaseyi also urged the students to adopt a growth mindset, commit to life-long learning and build relationships that would shape their future.

Forsuelo, on her part, congratulated the fresh students and emphasised the importance of hardwork, discipline, and determination in achieving academic success.  She also urged the matriculating students to embrace opportunities towards growth to impact the society meaningfully.

“With Africa’s growing working age population predicted to increase three times by 2050, African nations must improve their educational career opportunities that will be in demand. I encourage every student to embrace the opportunities that lies ahead, stay curious, be innovative, and always strive for excellence and growth. Together, we will shape the future of hospitality and create a world where every guest feels valued and cherishes,” the provost said.

The Registrar of the college, Veronica Esode, encouraged the new students to stay focused and build an outstanding future for themselves, while urging the government to create an enabling environment to boost education, especially those teaching hospitality.
