The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has held a pre-bid meeting for the 2023/2024 UBEC intervention projects.
The meeting was organised to guide prospective contractors on procurement requirements, bidding procedures, and the board’s expectations during project execution.
Speaking at the meeting, the Director of Procurement, Mr Taofeek Oseni, said the engagement was designed to prepare bidders and ensure that their submissions comply with the law.
He explained that the board would not consider bids that fail to meet the stipulated requirements.
“Oseni said contractors must demonstrate professional and technical competence, financial capacity, availability of equipment, and qualified personnel before they can be considered for project awards.
He noted that the procurement process is guided by the Lagos State Public Procurement Law, 2021. He added that the required documents are necessary to determine bidders’ eligibility and capability, and that incomplete or inaccurate documentation would affect evaluation outcomes.
The Board Secretary, Hakeem Lamidi, said the meeting was organised to provide clarification on e-bidding procedures and post-procurement processes for contractors and suppliers.
He assured stakeholders that the board remains committed to due process.
Babatunde Williams, who represented the LASUBEB Chairman, said the intervention projects are aimed at improving educational infrastructure and learning conditions in public primary schools across the state.
Williams explained that although the projects fell under the 2023/2024 intervention cycle, implementation is commencing following recent approval by the federal government.
He said the board would ensure that the projects address identified gaps in classroom availability and school facilities.
