Stakeholders in the education sector have charged graduands of Mind Builders High School, Ikeja, to embrace lifelong learning, discipline and resilience as they step into a rapidly changing global environment.

The charge was delivered at its 2026 valedictory service and graduation ceremony, which brought together parents, educators, industry leaders and students to mark the end of one academic journey and the beginning of another.

The Education Director, Mrs Bola Falore, reminded the students that their future is not determined by their background but by their mindset and choices.

Falore, who was represented by the Principal, Agbelu Adekunle, reminded that while university life offers freedom, it can destroy great destinies without discipline.

She urged the graduating students to use their freedom wisely by reading beyond the classroom, asking questions, and deliberately developing communication and digital skills.

She also encouraged them to pursue professional certifications, internships, and volunteer opportunities that will position them as individuals the world will always need.

Highlighting the rapid changes in global careers, Falore pointed to artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, data science, biotechnology, and renewable energy as fields currently reshaping industries and creating new opportunities.

She enjoined the students not to be satisfied with earning only a university degree, but to become lifelong learners, innovators, and problem-solvers capable of adapting to change.

Chairman of the event and Managing Partner of GBC Professional Services, Gbenga Badejo, told the graduating students that their greatest asset is the quality of their minds. Badejo noted that a curious, disciplined, and courageous mind has the power to create opportunities where others see obstacles.

He advised them never to let their first qualification become their final identity, but to keep learning, growing, and believing that their future can be greater than their present.

Badejo pointed out that the ability to learn, unlearn, and relearn has become one of the defining competencies of successful people in the 21st century.

While outlining five principles for building a limitless mind, Badejo urged the graduands to never stop learning, to build character alongside competence, to embrace resilience in the face of setbacks.

He further encouraged the students to discover their passion by exploring opportunities, seeking mentors, volunteering, and developing new skills that will set them apart in a competitive world.

In his keynote address, the Director of Career Services at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr Mojisola Manuel, said success is not defined by wealth or beauty, but by purpose, courage, and impact.

Manuel described a limitless mindset as one that refuses to be constrained by fear or failure.

She cited the story of KFC founder Colonel Sanders, who was rejected more than 4,000 times before achieving success at age 81, as an example of resilience.

She urged the graduating students to see problems as opportunities for solutions, stressing that innovation has always been driven by people who dared to think differently.

Looking ahead, Manuel urged the graduands to embrace lifelong learning, especially in a world that is increasingly shaped by technology and artificial intelligence, reminding them that continuous learning would be essential for relevance and growth in the future.

The Valedictorian, Aderogba Adeife, lauded the school for laying a solid foundation for them, while encouraging her peers to continue flying the flag of the school high wherever they find themselves.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to outstanding students in academics, character and leadership, as well as the recognition of teachers who contributed significantly to the school’s success over the years.
