OSCOTECH secures NBTE accreditation, approval for new programmes

The Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke (OSCOTECH) has secured accreditation and approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for new programmes.

Making the announcement in a statement on Thursday, OSCOTECH Public Relations Officer (PRO), Fatai Tijani, said this is another significant milestone in the school’s quest for academic excellence and institutional development.

Tijani said this is because the NBTE granted accreditation and approval to all programmes presented by the institution during the recently concluded accreditation exercise.

He explained that the accreditation exercise resulted in the successful re-accreditation of 11 of the College’s existing programmes which, at the National Diploma (ND) level, include Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Agricultural Technology, Multimedia Technology, Arts and Industrial Design, Accountancy, Banking & Finance, and Business Administration, while Banking & Finance, Accountancy, and Statistic were reaccredited at the Higher National Diploma (HND) level.

In addition, Tijani said the board approved the commencement of 20 new programmes at both ND and HND levels.

“The National Diploma programmes approved include Mass Communication, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science and Management Technology, Food Science Technology, Transport Planning and Management,” he said.

“While programmes approved at the HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA level inlcude Arts and Industrial Design (Textile Option), Arts and Industrial Design (Graphics Option), Office Technology Management, Agribusiness Management, Animal Production Technology, Crop Production Technology, Agricultural Extension and Management, Film and Multimedia Production, Library and Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Data Protection, Mechatronics Engineering Technology (Industrial Mechatronics Option), Mechatronics Engineering Technology (Automotive Mechatronics Option), Marketing and Taxation.”

Reacting to the development, the Rector of OSCOTECH, Mr. S. A. Adewumi, described the achievement as a clear testament to the institution’s unwavering commitment to quality education, academic excellence, and continuous improvement in infrastructure, manpower development, teaching, and curriculum delivery.

Adewumi expressed profound appreciation to the Governing Council of the College, under the chairmanship of Prince Diran Odeyemi, Management, staff, students, alumni, and other stakeholders whose collective support and dedication contributed immensely to the success of the accreditation exercise.

The rector further noted that the approval of the new programmes reflects the college’s determination to align its academic offerings with emerging global trends and evolving industry demands, particularly in critical areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Mechatronics Engineering, Environmental Management, Media and Communication Studies, and Agribusiness.

According to him, the development will further enhance the college’s capacity to produce highly skilled and innovative graduates equipped with the knowledge, competencies, and entrepreneurial mindset required to thrive in the rapidly changing global economy.

The rector assured prospective students, parents, and the general public that OSCOTECH remains steadfast in its commitment to providing quality technical and vocational education while maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence and professional training.

Tijani added that the successful accreditation and resource approval exercise further reinforces OSCOTECH’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading polytechnics, renowned for excellence in teaching, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement.
