The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) Alumni Association has congratulated the newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof Segun Aina, to sustain Prof Ishaq Oloyede’s reforms and strengthen the nation’s tertiary admission process.
The association also paid glowing tribute to the immediate past Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, describing his tenure as impactful and one that elevated the credibility of the examination body.
A statement issued on Friday by its National President, Dr. Stephen Olawale Fasakin, the association said the appointment of the new Registrar was well deserved, noting that the appointee possesses the experience, integrity, and commitment required to lead the examination body.
Fasakin commended President Bola Tinubu for the appointment and expressed optimism that the new JAMB chief would consolidate existing reforms while introducing fresh initiatives to enhance transparency, efficiency and credibility in the administration of admissions into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
“As an association committed to excellence in education, we pray that God grants you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to succeed in office. May your tenure surpass the achievements of your predecessors and further strengthen confidence in the nation’s admission process,” the statement said.
The alumni also pledged readiness to work with JAMB in advancing quality education and credible public examinations, saying such partnerships are essential to improve the country’s education sector.
Fasakin, who also serves as Deputy Chairman I, the Association of Nigerian Universities Alumni (ANUA), said both organisations would continue to support initiatives that promote excellence and integrity in higher education.
The association equally reserved special commendations for Oloyede, describing him as one of the foremost ambassadors of the University of Ilorin whose leadership at JAMB earned national recognition.
According to the statement, “Oloyede’s stewardship was marked by remarkable reforms that strengthened public confidence in JAMB and brought honour to the University of Ilorin Alumni Association.”
It thanked Oloyede for his years of dedicated service, wishing him greater accomplishments in his future endeavours.
