The outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede, on Friday formally began the process of handing over the leadership of the examination body to his successor, Professor Segun Aina, at the Board’s headquarters in Abuja.

The handover ceremony, which is currently ongoing, marks the end of Oloyede’s tenure after 10 years of overseeing major reforms in Nigeria’s tertiary admissions system.

Top government officials, JAMB management staff, and other stakeholders are attending the event.

Professor Aina is expected to assume office as the new Registrar following the formal transfer of authority, with expectations that he will build on the reforms initiated by his predecessor while addressing emerging challenges in the nation’s admissions process.

In his farewell speech, Prof. Oloyede expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, appreciated members of staff, stakeholders and partners for their support throughout his tenure, and urged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor, Prof. Aina.

He said JAMB’s achievements were the result of collective commitment, professionalism and integrity, while expressing confidence that the Board would continue to consolidate on the reforms and innovations introduced under his leadership.

He also reaffirmed his belief that the institution would remain focused on transparency, accountability and excellence in the nation’s tertiary admissions process.
