As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Eko Electricity Distribution Company has reiterated its commitment to giving back to the communities where it is currently operating.

The company said giving back to the community remains an opportunity to it to display the humanitarian aspect of its business.
“We see this as a reference point to put smiles on the faces of numerous individuals – from our esteemed customers to the less privileged within our operational network,” the DisCo noted.

Eko DisCo held a series of CSR initiatives within its 10 districts: Ibeju, Lekki, Island, Festac, Apapa, Ojo, Ijora, Orile, Agbara and Mushin between December 20, 2018 and January 3, 2019. The CSR initiatives consisted of donation of relief items to selected orphanages and homes for people with disabilities across all 10 districts, and distribution of food items to less privileged individuals on the street around the environs of its corporate headquarters in Marina.

According to the EKEDC’s Managing Director, Adeoye Fadeyibi, the initiatives reiterate the company’s commitment to fulfilling its duty to the society.
He said: “The EKEDC motto is empowering quality of lives, and this goes beyond ensuring that our customers are satisfied as we also make efforts to take care of the less privileged individuals within our network, especially during the festive season.”

In a separate statement, the General Manager, Corporate Communications of the company, Godwin Idemudia, said: “Putting smiles on the faces of these people have brought joy and warmth to our hearts; making it more than just a CSR but a genuine commitment to making the world a better place”
Idemudia explained that EKEDC carried out similar initiatives throughout 2018 including: donation of relief items to inmates at Ikoyi Prisons, presentation of uniforms to the Lagos State Waste Management Agency to support the Lagos State Cleaner Initiative, renovation of various orphanages within its network, feeding less privileged individuals and many more.

He also used the opportunity to wish customers a happy New Year and urged them to continue to pay their bills promptly as the company remained committed to recording significant improvements in its services in 2019 with their cooperation.
