AAAN, Brand Communicator to host APCON boss, Fadolapo
The marketing and communication publication, Brand Communicator, in collaboration with the Advertising Agencies Association of Nigeria (AAAN), is organising an industry reception for the recently appointed Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON, Dr. Lekan Fadolapo.
The event, which is billed for Friday, March 5, 2020 and scheduled to hold at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja in Lagos by 9:00pm, is expected to have in attendance, heads of sectoral groups and selected key stakeholders within the Integrated Marketing Communication space in the Nigerian market. The event will be an hybrid event.
Until his appointment, Fadolapo, a registered advertising practitioner and fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), was the Executive Secretary of the AAAN.
While throwing light on the collaboration between Brand Communicator and AAAN to host the grand reception, Chief Executive Officer of Awesome Communications and Publisher of Brand Communicator, Joshua Ajayi, said the reception is necessary because of the years the industry had been in limbo, following the seeming Federal Government’s apathy towards constitution of the APCON Council and lack of a substantive registrar. “Fadolapo’s appointment therefore warrants celebration for the industry. The grand reception will also afford the new APCON boss the platform to formally address the IMC industry.”
The Steve Babaeko-led AAAN was founded in 1973 as a sectoral body within the Nigerian marketing communications landscape and has become a force to be reckoned with both locally and internationally.
Formerly known as Association of Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria (AAPN), the association formally changed its name on Saturday May 1, 2004 at Lekki Peninsula Resort, Ajah, Lagos during its 31st AGM/Congress. AAAN is the umbrella body that coordinates and promotes the interest of advertising agencies in Nigeria.
