Borno State government has supported 30,436 flood victims with food items, cash and tractors for the 2022 farming season.

According to the state governor, Babagana Zulum, 436 residents lost their houses and food items to the recent flood in Damboa Local Government Area of the state.

Disbursing N172 million and food items on Monday, the governor disclosed that tractors would be allocated to farmers to resume their farming activities that were disrupted following the lingering insecurity.

He said many houses were destroyed by the flood, leading to the displacement of households.

“Each of the flood victims is to collect N50,000 with a bag of rice and clothing materials, as well as a mat,” he said.

He, therefore, warned the affected residents against building houses on waterways and flood plains.

He noted that it was to avoid future occurrence of destroying people’s lives and property.

The governor also supervised the disbursement of N5,000 each to 30,000 widows and other vulnerable women from various insurgency affected communities.

Chairman of Damboa Council, Prof. Adamu Alloma, thanked the governor for the support and intervention in bringing succour to the people.
