C’ River: Sen Eteng Facilitates Solar-Powered Boreholes, Street Lights In 27 Communities in Central Senatorial District

The breakdown shows that the solar-powered boreholes were constructed in 9 communities while solar-powered street lights have been provided in 16 communities

A breakdown of the solar-powered boreholes showed that projects are located across various six local government areas that make up the zone.

The benefiting communities include the solar powered boreholes in Bendeghe-Ekiem,Ediba, Olulumo, Ababene, Ijom, Assiga, Aduma, Mkpani, Afaben, Mkpani and Boje.

Solar-powered street lights have been installed in the following 16 communities of communities of Ekori, Ugep, Mkpani, Inyima, Assiga, Nko,
Obubra Urban, Oderegha/Ovukwa, Ofumbungha/Yala, Isobo Otaka, Isobo Biko-Biko, Boki LGA (Wula Ekumpuo, Okwabang, Agba Osokom and Katchuan Irruan, Nsofang, Ajassor and Adadama.

Speaking with journalists in Calabar at the weekend, Sen. Eteng Williams said the solar- powered boreholes will ensure
sustainable water supply, particularly in communities that suffer from water scarcity.

According to him, the solar-powered street lights is in line with the ‘Project Light Up Central’ Initiative, aimed at boosting social activities and night lifestyle at the benefiting communities

He said:”This is in line with his electioneering promise of taking development to the grassroots and improve standard of living.

“We are further collaborating with relevant federal agencies to bring in more developmental projects to our people. We are committed to restoring hope to our people at the grassroots.

“Water and light are very crucial to human existence and that is why we are given attention to the projects. This is just the tip of the iceberg.”
