Delta school bans sale of handouts, lecture materials
Authorities of the Delta State School of Health Technology, Ofuoma-Ughelli has read a riot act to lecturers involved in the sale of lecture materials warning that anyone caught henceforth would be sanctioned.
The Chairman of Council, Dr. Nelson Ejakpovi who gave the warning at a meeting with heads of departments and academic staff of the institution said any form of extortion and harassment of students would be resisted.
Ejakpovi noted that the institution has one of the most modern and best-equipped e-library in the country and urged the students to make good use of the opportunity.
He also enjoined the lecturers to avail themselves of the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge with the library.
“Sales of handout, printed materials as well as textbooks have been banned in this institution, if you are a lecturer and you author a book, don’t coerce students to buy, take it to reputable book stores outside the school and sell to the public; no one should force students to buy anything to attract marks.”
He also reminded that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had directed that funds be released for the supplies of equipment and teaching aids to various departments in order to position the school for full accreditation of courses of study.
He added that as an institution, the authorities must avoid harassment of students and instead encourage them to bring out the best in them.
