Nigeria is one of the countries in Sub-Saharan Africa where maternal mortality has remained a pressing problem. The country’s progress towards reducing the number of maternal deaths has been largely insufficient due to a lack of information support and health infrastructure, with women being the most vulnerable.

Maternal mortality persists in Nigeria despite current strategies in place: the promotion of institutional deliveries, training and deploying new skilled health workers. These programmes have laid the groundwork for Nigeria but need additional support to continue to improve outcomes for all Nigerian mothers and children.

Nigeria remains among the top six countries in the world that contribute to more than 50 per cent of all global maternal deaths. In 2008, Nigeria had the second largest recorded number (50,000) of maternal deaths with an estimated MMR of 840/100,000 live births. The Nigeria Demographic and Health Surveys (NDHS) revealed a national MMR of 576 deaths per 100,000 live births in the year 2013. While the number is improving, it is still significantly behind other nations.

Intelligent Nodus Solution Limited (INSL) is a Nigerian-owned and operated business that is committed to providing support to groups at risk within Nigeria and the world as a whole.  INSL strongly believes it can assist in reducing the maternal mortality rate in Nigeria and has launched a platform called ‘Mama’s Pride Maternity’, which is an initiative that uses mobile technology to enable access to pregnancy information, even without an internet connection.

INSL believes that each stage of pregnancy should be a positive experience, ensuring women and their babies reach their full potential for health and well-being. Everyone knows that pregnancy is not an easy journey when you’re going through it alone. Even when you have a supportive partner, they may not be able to fully grasp the significance of this huge life event or know how to assist you throughout your pregnancy.

Mama’s Pride Maternity strives to create a world of healthier pregnancies, healthy babies, and confident mothers by providing the most helpful and trustworthy support and pregnancy care information. The App provides access to tools and support to assist pregnant women to prepare and feel in control of their pregnancy journey every step of the way.

The average Nigerian, and not just women of reproductive age, is unaware of his state of health. We typically wait for our health status to deteriorate before acting. The availability of medical tests affords medical practitioners the opportunity to arrive at a fast and definite diagnosis to subsequently help patients with their preferred treatment plans.

Mama’s Pride is introducing to Nigeria our Microlab solution that provides the basic health tests of temperature, oximetry, electrocardiogram, blood pressure and blood sugar via mobile smartphones in both urban and remote areas.

These tests assist the doctor and the patient to arrive at a fast and accurate diagnosis and treatment options resulting in happy patients, doctors and children.

Mama’s Pride is available on Google Play Store for download and more information is available atwww.mamaspride.ng
