Group marks 10 years of marketing communication

While welcoming guests to the event that attracted Chairman, Aquila Group of Companies and member, House of Representatives, Shina Peller, among other dignitaries, Toju Wilkey, Director HR & Administration, LUOVA Group said the epoch-making event was a dual celebration of its past 10 years and a projection into the next 10 years.

In his opening remarks, President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), Idorenyin Enang, commended the duo of Bolaji Junaid and Tosin Obembe on the celebratory milestone achievement in operations.

Speaking on the topic The future of marketing, Enang pointed out three attributes that would make ‘the marketer of the future.’

Enang, who was represented by the Group Head, Mobile Financial Services, Interswitch, Lanre Basamta, said they include ‘problem discoverer.’

“The person who discovers a problem deserves the right to solve it. The future is such that we have to be much more than marketers, we have to be problem discoverers, we have to be partners,” said Enang.

He added that those in tune with technology and its disruptive force as well as marketers who understand customer’s impulses would thrive in the future.

“The marketer of the future is not just one that creates the spiciest campaigns but the one who understands not just the customer, but the customer’s impulse,” Enang added.

In showcasing the last decade of Tobems Media, Bolaji Junaid spoke briefly on the journey so far, highlighting the trajectory of the agency, working in different high-profile agencies, including Insight Publicis and Ogilvy, working on both sides of the biggest cola brands- Coca-Cola and Pepsi, before joining Tobems Media.

Chuka Obi, Director of Creativity & Innovation, Globacom, in his keynote address, spoke on the place of innovation in creativity.

Speaking on the anniversary, CEO and Creative Director, Tobems Media, Tosin Obembe, said: “When I started, the idea was to turn value to products. I decided to evolve from just video editing and camera to multimedia.

“So, the production company that started out with just one camera and a laptop has transformed to LUOVA Group, which now has Tobems Media, Tobems Production and Trois Sitini, an all-rounder marketing innovation company.

“And this is our own way of influencing and changing the world; it is the reason we are here, and reason we started Tobems Media.”

While commending the brand on its modest performance this last decade, Peller emphasised the need for young entrepreneurs to pay attention to details and to give their all to whatever dream they hope to actualise.

Launched in 2010, Tobems has evolved into a fully integrated marketing communications company.
