Adekunle Gold, Pesa commit $20,000 to Sickle Cell Organisations

The Adekunle Gold Foundation, in partnership with financial technology company, Pesa, has launched a $20,000 initiative to support organisations providing healthcare, education, advocacy and other services to people living with sickle cell disease.

Tagged We’re Not Done: AG Foundation Sickle Cell Impact Initiative, the project is designed to strengthen existing programmes, expand access to support services and improve the lives of people affected by the disease.

Announced on October 20, 2026, the programme will support four organisations working within the sickle cell community in Nigeria, Canada, Ghana and the United Kingdom, alongside the Adekunle Gold Foundation’s own activities.

The beneficiaries are Sickle Cell Advocacy Management Initiative in Nigeria, Not Just You in Canada, Sickle Life in Ghana and It Takes A Village in the United Kingdom.

According to the foundation, the funding will help the organisations expand their reach, strengthen ongoing programmes and deepen their impact through healthcare access, patient support, public education, awareness campaigns and advocacy.

Adekunle Gold, the singer and founder of the foundation, said the initiative is aimed at translating public awareness of sickle cell disease into practical support for affected individuals and families. “We’re Not Done is about turning awareness into action. There are incredible organisations working every day to improve the lives of people living with sickle cell, and together with Pesa, we want to give them more resources to do that work and reach even more people,” he said.

AG, who has publicly spoken about living with sickle cell disease, has used his platform to promote awareness and advocate for people affected by the condition.

Pesa is supporting the initiative as its programme partner, providing the $20,000 commitment for the launch and first cycle of the programme.

The Head of Global Growth and Marketing at Pesa, TosinOlaniyi, said the partnership reflected the need to move beyond awareness campaigns towards tangible assistance for people living with the disease.

“Sickle cell affects many people in the Nigerian and wider Black communities we serve. These are our friends, colleagues and loved ones,” Olaniyi said.

He commended the singer for using his personal experience to drive advocacy and said the company is proud to support an initiative focused on raising awareness and providing assistance to the sickle cell community.

“Through our partnership with the AG Foundation and the other participating foundations, we hope to go beyond awareness and contribute to meaningful, tangible support for individuals and families affected by sickle cell,” he added.

The foundation said the initiative would combine funding, advocacy and visibility to strengthen the wider sickle cell support network and deliver measurable, long-term impact.

Founded in 2023 by Adekunle Gold, the Adekunle Gold Foundation focuses on improving the lives of people living with sickle cell disease through healthcare access, advocacy and public awareness.
