To foster sustainable healthcare solutions and a healthier Nigeria, the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) has renovated over 10 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the country.

The milestone was achieved under the PSHAN Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility Programme (ADHFP) initiative that focused on creating and maintaining quality PHCs, as well as recognising individuals and organisations. It was also meant to drive change and reward contributions in the healthcare sector.

The Managing Director, PSHAN, Dr Tinuola Akinbolagbe, who spoke during its yearly Gala and Awards Night themed: “Celebrating Excellence in Healthcare” in Lagos, highlighted the significance of collaboration in building a trusted healthcare system. She added that the group acknowledged those who invested their time and resources in improving health outcomes in the country.

The Deputy Secretary-General, United Nations and Chair, United Nations Sustainable Development Group, Ms Amina Mohammed in a virtual address noted that universal health coverage is a key to achieving Sustainable Development Goal Three (SDG3) and all the SDGs, from poverty eradication to building a peaceful and inclusive society.

World Health Organisation (WHO) Country Representative and Head of Mission to Nigeria, Dr Walter Mulombo, stated that no one imagined the scale of achievable results when PSHAN was founded some years ago. “PSHAN’s journey proves that strategic collaboration is the way forward for sustainable healthcare development,” he added.

Lagos State Ministry of Health emerged as the winner in the first category award on Healthcare Equity and Access Award, and Healthcare Policy Award, while the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) won the Maternal Equity Advancement Award, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) won the Sustainability in Healthcare Award.

PSHAN is a coalition of private sector leaders committed to improving healthcare delivery in Nigeria through strategic initiatives, partnerships, and advocacy, as well as creating sustainable healthcare solutions that improve the well-being of all Nigerians.
