The Kebbi State Government has concluded arrangements to establish a new agency called State Public Work Agency that would be shoulder the responsibility of maintenance of road network.

The government is also set to rename the School of Health Technology, Jega to School of Science and Technology, where different certificates on both health and sciences would be awarded.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the state executive council meeting in Birnin-Kebbi yesterday, Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Musa Hassan Kalgo, said the new agency would function as a supervisor of all road constructions, procurement and maintenance.

Kalgo further disclosed that the council resolved to re-introduce the monthly environmental sanitation programme across the state, under the supervision of Kebbi Urban Development Authority (KUDA), to be observed every last Saturday of the month, with effect from this month. Meanwhile, the newly elected state caretaker committee chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Abdallah Wali, has admonished party supporters and leaders to bury their differences and continue to work in harmony with one another to ensure the development of the party and win the 2019 general elections.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting held in Birnin Kebbi, Wali said: “We should create proactive policy on practice of full democracy in the state and Nigeria at large to ensure political stability and free and fair electoral process.”

The 26-man committee to run the affairs of the party in the state, with Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi as secretary, is aimed at strengthening the party.Earlier, a former minister of Special Duties, Kabir Tanimu, appealed to the people to rally around and support the PDP.

He expressed optimism that the party members who decamped to the ruling APC would come back to its folder, noting that PDP is the only party that can salvage them.“I assure you that the party would regain its strength in the state and would be successful in the 2019 general elections and other elections,” he said
