Citing infrastructural development, which includes road construction, student intervention loans, the establishment of the Southeast Development Commission, appointments, and other interventions, the Senior Special Adviser to President Ahmed Tinubu on Community Engagement, Southeast Barr. Chioma Nweze pleaded with the people of the Southeast to vote for the All Progressives Congress APC in next year’s general election.
The President’s aide stated this in Abakaliki during a stakeholders town hall meeting organized by her to inform them on the reason the Southeast should vote for Mr. President and all the candidates, noting that the landmark achievement recorded in the country, especially in the Southeast region, is a testimony that you have come to serve the people with your wealth of experience, strength and wisdom, which of course is founded on the mantra of the ‘Renewed Hope agenda.
The meeting brought together important personnel from the state, which includes the former governor and Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, National Assembly Members, top Government Officials, Civil Societies, Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Captains of Industry, Support Group, Traditional Rulers, Students and many others.
Bar. Nweze said that President Ahmed Tinubu have succeeded in addressing most of the challenges facing Southeast noting that without the coming of Tinubu as President southeast economy would have collapse.
Nweze said that the present administration, led by Mr. President through his Renewed Hope agenda mantra, has launched numerous programmes and interventions which have not only promoted economic growth but also infrastructure development and social welfare in the region.
Bar. Nweze stated that apart from the establishment of South-East Development Commission SEDC which according to her have sprung up further development in the region, she added that our roads which were in bad shapes are now been fix and other valuable life touching programmes put in place towards addressing historical disparities and promoting inclusivity.
He further cited Youths empowerment, skill acquisition programmes, health interventions and appointment if southeast Sons and Daughters into strategic position as a landmark achievement of Mr. President.
“I’m amazed that every road, every place is being opened up. This will give our women the opportunity of getting to hospital without giving birth on the road. It will make our farmers able to bring their food to town to sell,” she said.
She added that the highway would reconnect communities across the Southeast and adjoining states while reviving historical trade routes.
Nweze commended President Tinubu and the Works Ministry for what she described as the simultaneous execution of major road projects across the Southeast, urging residents to acknowledge the developmental impact of the infrastructure programme.
She appealed to our people across the region to support the Tinubu administration, particularly in view of what she described as its interventions and programmes targeted at women.
“South-East people are happy and will come out en masse to vote for Mr. President in next year’s general election. This is the first time the South-East is having it this good,” she said
Speaking, Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, declared that there was no presidential candidate in the South East in the 2027 general election, describing the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC ) candidate Peter Obi from the zone as “nobody”.
Umahi said Obi is not better than some prominent persons in Ebonyi State, including himself, former Senate President Anyim Pius, former Minister of Education Sen. Sam Egwu and others, urging the people of the state and South East to deliver President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election to be able to get the position when it is their turn.
He urged religious and traditional rulers to openly declare support for Tinubu and stop sitting on the fence.
‘I want to tell our religious leaders and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), do not stay on the fence. I know when I was struggling to be Governor, CAN took a decision and said justice must prevail. CAN don’t keep quiet, let us toe the path that must sustain our freedom.
‘There is no way an Igbo man, after staying for 60 years, will want to be President for four years. There is nobody that can accept that. The North has not accepted being President for four years
“Somebody was telling me that Atiku’s son bought buses and donated to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and said this is a personal donation.
“Igbo man needs wisdom, not sentiments. Igbo man should not allow people to be dishing hate speeches in the social media on their behalf. Today, our people in commerce clear our goods with ease. Today, our roads are being revived in the path of economic activities.
“Today, we can boldly say we have been integrated. The last time there were choosing service chiefs, it was the Naval Chief. This time, it is the Chief of Air Staff, Minister of Works, other Ministers, SSAs, what else? When I say South East has been fully integrated and included, I mean it.
“My mouth will not shut up because I am telling out people for a reference for tomorrow. We are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to finish his remaining four years so that the South East would have strategically supported another region. So that when it is our turn, they will support us”.
“You insult anybody that is not supporting Peter Obi. Anybody that is not supporting Peter Obi is a saboteur; you insult the person. Who is Peter Obi better than? Is he better than Sam Egwu? Is he better than Elias Mbam? Is he better than the lion of the South East, myself? Is he better than Anyim Pius? Whom is he better than?
“So, I don’t want us to be deceiving ourselves. We dont have any presidential candidate in the South East. We have people that are vying; Ebonyi has a right to make a choice. Traditional fathers, do not stay on the fence; religious leaders, do not stay on the fence. Our people in the North do not; our people in the South West, they do not. Guide our people, let them know what”, the Minister stated.
Umahi, a former Governor of Ebonyi State, said he will deliver 1.3m votes for the President and Governor Francis Nwifuru in the next year’s general election.
He boasted that he can’t sit down and watch another party produce a Governor in the state during the general election, describing those who think they can defeat Nwifuru as jokers.
“We have 1.8m registered voters in Ebonyi State. Let me tell you, if we are not donating 1.3m votes for the President, for the Governor, we are doing ourselves a disservice”, he said.
