President Bola Tinubu has subsidized the cost of kidney dialysis in federal hospitals, slashing the price from N50,000 to N12,000, representing a 76% price reduction.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, announced the new policy in a statement released on Monday.
According to the aide, this price reduction will bring relief to thousands of Nigerians batting kidney-related diseases across the country.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a landmark subsidy to ease the cost of idney dialysis for Nigerians. With this intervention, the price of each dialysis session has been reduced from N50,000 to just 12,000,” the statement read.
Bwala added that the new pricing is already being implemented in ten major federal medical centres and teaching hospitals across the country.
He also noted that the Federal Government has plans to widen access nationwide before the year ends by adding more federal hospitals to the list.
