Igbinedion University, Okada has concluded arrangements to host the three-day West African Society of Toxicology (WASOT) international conference billed to start today till Saturday, February 9, 2019.

According to the Head, Public & External Relations Unit, Office of the vice-chancellor, Obajide Ilugbo, the conference themed, “Toxicological concerns in developing nations II” would feature experts from international and national agencies, including UNICEF, NAFDAC, WHO, SON and other professionals from the academia and industry across West Africa.

It will hold under the chairmanship of Managing Director, National Institute for Oil-Palm Research (NIFOR), Dr. Celestine Ikuenobe, while the Managing Director of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), Mr. Yusuf Shiminga Matashi, is the special guest of honour.

The Chancellor and Chairman Board of Regents who is also the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, will be the father of the day, Ilugbo said.

Other guests of honour include the Edo State Commissioners for Health, Dr. David Osifo and Environment, Omowa Alonge Oni-Okpaku.

The institution’s vice chancellor and professor of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Forensic, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, and a professor of Marine Biology, University of Lagos, Prof. Lucian Chukwu will deliver the keynote address.
