The Executive Secretary, Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. Rahman Ishola, on Tuesday, led some management staff on a courtesy visit to the new General Manager of Radio Lagos/Eko FM, Mr. Jide Lawal, in his office.

The Board Secretary in his remarks, said that the purpose of the visit was to felicitate with Mr. Jide Lawal on his recent appointment as the General Manager by the Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and also to strengthen the barter arrangement existing between the two organisations over the years.

He stressed that the relationship between the two organisations had greatly assisted the Board in achieving successes while carrying out its statutory responsibilities, adding that for five consecutive years, the Board continually won merit awards from the Federal Government over its improved performance during Hajj exercises.

Noting that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic had hindered the performance of Hajj by foreign pilgrims for the past two years, Ishola expressed his optimism that from all indications and the positive signals emanating from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially on the performance of Umrah (lesser Hajj) and other Hajj related activities, the 2022 Hajj exercise would hold.

He thereafter sought the support of the General Manager in the area of advert placements, sensitisation and adequate publicity for the Board’s activities before and during the Hajj exercise. He also appreciated the immediate past General Manager, Mrs. Ayo Sotanwa for her moral support whilst in office.

In his response, the General Manager, Mr. Jide Lawal, expressed his deepest appreciation to the Board’s management for finding time to rejoice with him over his appointment, saying words are not enough to express how elated he was over the visit.

He pledged his maximum cooperation and promised to continue from where his predecessor stopped and even improve on the barter arrangements so that the Board and by extension the State Government, would continue to excel in the area of providing quality Hajj service delivery to intending pilgrims.

Highlight of the visit was a special prayer offered by the Board’s Deputy Head of Operations, Imam Soliu Olohungbebe for the GM to succeed in his assignment.

While urging the General Manager to ensure that justice and equity prevail in his dealings with members of staff, he also appealed to the staff to extend maximum cooperation, commitment and absolute loyalty to their new boss, so that the anticipated success could be actualised.

On the Board Secretary’s entourage are HoD Operations, Mr. Kamal Zubair; HoD, Admin & HR, Mrs. Ganiyat Ojomu; HoD Accounts, Mrs. Yesirat Adewale and HoU, Public Affairs, Mr. Taofeek Lawal, amongst others.
