As Lagos State government commences sales of Lake Rice for the festive season, residents have lauded government for logistics put in place to ease purchase at designated centres.
 
According to a statement by Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Tunbosun Ogunbanwo, those who besieged the
centres expressed satisfaction with the process, noting that the officials were courteous and pleasant.
   
Mr. Hassan Adewale, who was at the Lagos Television (LTV) Complex, Agidingbi-Ikeja, said getting the product is on the basis of first come, first serve.

 
“Lake rice is of very good quality and has become a household name and I am pleased with the arrangement at this centre,” he said.
   
Another resident, Olamide Fashola who was at the Agricultural Development Authority (ADA) Oko Oba, Agege also expressed satisfaction with, stressing that getting the product was a lot easier than she thought.
   
She however, urged the state government to consider a further price reduction in the spirit of the season. “The price of Lake Rice has forced down the prices of other brands of rice, government should further consider reducing the price since the price of the imported rice has also dropped drastically,” she said.
 
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Oluwatoyin Suarau who visited the designated sales centre at the (LTV) Complex, Agidingbi-Ikeja to monitor activities, said government would ensure the continuous availability of the rice in already established designated centres, and would work to ensure adequate supply all over the state.
 
The Commissioner said residents could easily get Lake Rice product at Lagos Agric Input Supply Authority Ojo, (LAISA), Farm Service Centres Odogunyan, Ikorodu, Farmers Mart Surulere Benson Street off Akerele, Agricultural Development Authority (ADA) Oko-Oba Agege, Farm Service Centre Agric Complex Ajah, Farm Service Centre Temu Epe and Lagos State Television Complex Agidingbi.
