The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) has extended the early bird window for its 2023 yearly conference.

According to the organisers, the window will now shut finally on June 8, 2023.

Mr. Okey Ohagba, former NBA Assistant General Secretary and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee said the extension was occasioned by public interest.

“We received representations from several intending delegates and groups who are keen to register for the Conference. It is in the public interest to allow them not only to register, but to enjoy the substantial discounts available through the early bird window. This has necessitated a shift in the final deadline,” pointed out.

An earlier statement by Ohagba and NBA-SPIDEL Chairman, Dr. Monday Ubani had noted that “for a more enhanced public interest advocacy in Nigeria, we are happy to announce hugely discounted conference fees for this year.”

The conference will hold at CITADEL Events Centre, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos from June 20 to June 23, 2023 with the theme, “Post-election Nigeria: the judiciary in the eye of the storm.”

Aside from accommodation and flight arrangements which are in top gear, an A-List of prominent speakers has been lined up for the yearly fiesta.

Among these are Justice Amina Augie of the Supreme Court; fiery human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) (Keynote Speaker); Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN); Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN); retired Justice Taiwo Taiwo; Prof. Ernest Ojukwu (SAN); Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti and his Lagos State counterpart, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Prof. Pat Utomi; immediate past NBA President, Mr. Olumide Akpata; incumbent NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau (SAN) (Chief Host), and Mr. Ebun Adegboruwa (SAN), to name a few.

Meanwhile, the yearly conference will witness welcome cocktails, lunches, fun activities and the signature conference dinner alongside exhibitions by traditional and new vendors.

The 23-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the conference led by NBA, Ikeja Branch Chairman, Mr. Seyi Olawumi was recently unveiled by Ohagba.
