Director General, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Charles Ebuebu, has restated need for broadcast professionals to be socially responsible ahead of the 2027 general elections
To Ebuebu, as the 2027 elections campaigns continue, broadcasters carry the duty of ensuring free, fair, credible, and responsible coverage.

He noted, “the NBC reminds broadcasters and other stakeholders to uphold fairness, accuracy, professionalism, impartiality and responsibility during this period.”

Saying it is important to safeguard integrity of the nation’s airwaves and contribute to a peaceful, credible and transparent electoral process, he further urged broadcasters to always verify before amplifying.

Ebuebu advised, “let every broadcast inform, educate and promote peaceful participation. Broadcast of partisan political campaign, announcements and any other form of partisan party identification or sumbol coded and later than twenty-four hours before polling day.”

In addition, he said contents shall be devoid of hate speech, fake news, inflammatory, derogatory, divisive, inciting comments or allusions; political parties and candidates must be given equal access and equitable airtime subject to payments of appropriate fees.
