Sir Steve Omojafor

Former President of the Association of Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria, Steve Omojafor, has urged players in the nation’s marketing communications industry to embrace passion to excel.

Speaking at the Edge Awards 2024 held in Lagos, last weekend, he said people with passion could change the world for better. Describing the awards’ organiser and Publisher/ CEO Marketing Edge Group, John Ajayi, as a man of uncommon passion, he recalled, “I was around when Marketing Edge was going to start. Ajayi showed all seriousness and doggedness. He will never accept no for an answer. Whenever he wants something, the passion he puts into it is beyond borders. He took the bull by the horn.”

On his part, representative of Ekiti State governor, Yinka Oyebode, assured of the state’s continued support to Marketing Edge and The Edge Awards. In his speech, Ajayi said with the pay off, ‘Excellence Beyond Borders’, the Edge Awards reflects Marketing Edge’s broader mission and vision which is to provide a platform that honours and inspires players who have made their marks, not only in the marketing and advertising community, but also in politics, entertainment and other fields that impact humanity.

He added by expanding the award categories to encompass oil and gas, ICT, insurance, air transport, construction, real estate, health care infrastructure and many more, the Edge Awards aims to recognise and celebrate excellence across a broad range of industries.

Speaking further, he stated the decision to rebrand the signature award is coming at a time when the marketing industry is undergoing rapid transformation, both locally and globally. The Edge Award will therefore serve as a beacon of possibility in the industry, recognising the creative efforts and energy that truly push success beyond boundaries.
