Nigerite Limited has been set up in April 1959 by three shareholders, Etex Group, worldwide leader of the fibre-cement industry, the five States of Western Nigeria now represented by Odu’a Investment and PZ Cussons, the well-known FMCG group. It is the oldest and more resilient fibre-cement company in the country. Over the decades it has managed to meet the demand for the roofing and ceiling markets and to grow in an environment sometimes unfavourable to manufacturing conditions.

Nigerite employs more than 700 staff and cooperates with more than 1,000 suppliers. All staff members are regularly trained in Nigeria or in Belgium for our engineers and managers. The company is certified for its OHAS (NIS-ISO BS 18001:2007), Environmental (NIS-ISO 14000:2004) and quality policies (NIS-ISO 9001:2008).
Nigerite is the market leader for fibre-cement sheets and is well known for its products, like Litespan, S7, Super Lightweight, Crown Tiles and 4’X4” flat sheets. The Local Content amounts to 75%-80%. Ninety-five percent of Nigerite production is sold in Nigeria, the rest being exported to Benin Republic, Togo and Ghana.

In 2012, Nigerite decided to invest in a new industrial process called autoclaved products. This process was aimed at shortening the lead time to get strong ceiling sheets and also at improving the beauty and the workability of these sheets. The new line has been commissioned in June 2015. At the same moment Nigerite introduced a new Brand, Kalsi, which refers to the autoclaved sheets manufactured in its factories.

• Kalsi brand is available for both diffuse and specification markets.
• KalsiCeil is designed for the diffuse market and offers 4’X4’ plain and embossed flat sheets.
• KalsiCeiling, KalsiClad, KalsiWall, KalsiPlank and KalsiFloor are designed for the specification market and offers cement board of 6 to 12mm thickness depending on the application.

Nigerite is synonymous with quality and strength and we have always strived for excellence. Nigerite vision is to be the number one, innovative, customer-driven and socially responsible one-stop building components solution provider in the Nigerian and Ecowas markets. The company’s ambition is to contribute to reduce the deficit housing in the country to serve as proof to our Federal Government that if local manufacturers are encouraged, they can be successful and create added-value and jobs for our Nation.

The first area of importance in respect to local content for Nigerite PLC is to secure its supplies of raw materials locally and be assured that we do not depend on foreign exchange (FOREX) scarcity or devaluation of the dollars or any issue from the port of delivery.
