About 469 pilgrims from Oyo State would be airlifted to Saudi Arabia on Monday as first batch of pilgrims that would be participating in this year hajj operation.
Chairman of the state pilgrims board, Muslim Wing, Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold said the second and third batches of pilgrims would be airlifted on August 13 and 14 respectively.

The Board Chairman said that a total number of 1,258 pilgrims from Oyo State would be participating in this year hajj.

He stated that adequate security has been put in place to prevent the pilgrims from going to Saudi Arabia with any contraband items.

Akewugbagold urged the pilgrims to fear Allah in their doing and shun acts capable of jeopardising their reward from God.

He said that the board was able to secure accommodation for the pilgrims close to Aram and this would reduce the stress of trekking long distance.
