Pupils begin new term with fun activities
Although students in various schools have already settled down to face the rigour of a new academic term, many schools welcomed their children with stimulating and fun activities to prepare them for weeks of academic activities.
While some schools painted and redecorated their premises in sunny, vivid colours to show love and joy to their children as they return to school, others organised small shows featuring songs, dances and art exhibition, mostly done by the students.
At Rightville School in Alaka Estate, Surulere, Lagos, the children were treated to a wonderful display of their artworks and other leisure activities they undertook during the previous tern and even before.
The aim, according to the head teacher, was to tell the students in a subtle manner that the holiday was over, and they should be psychologically prepared for the academic works ahead.
Some of the students were excited to see that some their works had been improved upon and elevated to qualify them for exhibition in other schools, when they are invited for such.
Abidemi Folarin, a JSS 3 pupil, said it was a pleasant surprise to see her drawings, which she thought were not so good, on display. She said: “When I finished the painting towards the end of last term, I thought I didn’t do a very good job, although my teacher was full of praises. Tjis is because I have done a better jobs in the past.”
