Anthony Anderson’s Wife Files For Divorce For The Second Time
Black-ish actor Anthony Anderson and his wife of 22 years, Alvina Stewart, have split for the second time.
According to People, Stewart filed to end their marriage on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. The high school sweethearts got married in September 1999 after meeting while in college at Howard University and share two adult children.
Stewart also cited “TBD” as the date of their separation, and requested that Anderson pay spousal support and her attorney feels.
She requested that property acquired during the marriage be treated as “community” property that both parties would share. The exception being “All gifts and inheritance, all assets, earnings, accumulations, and debts acquired by [Alvina] prior to the date of marriage and after the date of separation, the exact nature and extent of which are unknown,” the documents state.
Stewart had also filed for divorce in 2015, requesting spousal support and also citing irreconcilable differences in the divorce. When she filed the divorce, she listed April 1, 2014, as the separation date.
However, back in January 2017, she rescinded her divorce petition, and the couple reconciled.
Their marriage hit another snag in 2018 after Anderson was accused of assaulting a woman, which he denied.
“It’s unfortunate that anyone can file a police report, whether it is true or false,” Anderson’s rep said in a statement to Variety at the time. “The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.”
The LA DA’s office dropped the probe a few months later saying, “The reporting party has declined to be interviewed by the investigating officer.”
