Nigerian author and activist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, is set to join other stars as host committee for the world’s most prestigious and glamorous fashion event.

The 2025 Met Gala, scheduled for May 5 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will embrace the theme Tailored for You, celebrating the evolution of Black menswear. This year’s theme aligns with the Costume Institute’s exhibit Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion.

The superfine exhibit will trace Black menswear’s journey from 18th-century Europe to its modern-day influence. It will spotlight dandyism, a movement where Black men redefined self-expression through tailored elegance.

Attendees are expected to interpret this legacy through bold sartorial choices, with the red carpet featuring everything from classic tailoring to avant-garde menswear.

Stars set to attend

The 2025 Met Gala will be co-chaired by Anna Wintour, LeBron James, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Lewis Hamilton. Their collective influence is set to deliver a visually dynamic event.

The host committee further highlights the celebration of Black creativity, featuring prominent figures such as our own Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie along with André 3000, Simone Biles, Jonathan Owens, Dapper Dan, Janelle Monáe, Jeremy Pope, Olivier Rousteing, and Usher.

As anticipation mounts, the Superfine exhibit will open to the public from May 6 to October 26, offering an in-depth exploration of Black menswear’s impact on global fashion.
