In the congratulatory message, signed by the founder of the foundation, Hon. Olatunde Ilias Awonuga, the significant recognition, formally approved by the state Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, marks a monumental step in the annals of traditional leadership in Ogun State.

He added that the development reflects the profound contributions of Oba Salami to the socio-economic growth, cultural preservation, and peaceful co-existence in Makun-Omi, the Waterside region, and the broader Ijebu nation.

He said: “Under the visionary leadership of Kabiyesi Ilufemiloba I, Makun-Omi has experienced remarkable progress in areas of infrastructural development, youth empowerment, community cohesion, and the promotion of Yoruba cultural values. The elevation of the Osobia stool not only honors his individual excellence, but also amplifies the voice of the Waterside people within the state’s traditional and governance architecture.

“The Foundation extends its deepest appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for this landmark decision, which affirms his administration’s enduring commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and fostering inclusive development across all regions of Ogun State.”

Olatunde noted that the monarch’s elevation is a testament to his unwavering dedication to his people and to the timeless values of integrity, service, and cultural pride. “His reign reflects the enduring legacy of honor and principled leadership exemplified by revered monarchs like the late Awujale of Ijebu Land, Oba Sikiru Adetona, of blessed memory.

“Oba Salami’s commitment to the advancement of the Yoruba race and alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, further cements his place as a transformative leader in our time.
“The Olatunde Awonuga Foundation joins the people of Makun-Omi, the Waterside community, and well-wishers across Nigeria and the diaspora in celebrating this extraordinary achievement.”
