Dj Cuppy made this donation to assist African students pursuing a postgraduate degree at the university.
According to the University, the fund will aim at “champions of development in African countries and globally”.
She has since established the Cuppy Fund to support postgraduate students from Africa in obtaining the education they deserve.
DJ Cuppy, who has previously supported causes such as child protection and education, observed the differences in university experiences for students from her home continent while studying at Oxford from 2021 to 2022.
She said, “I saw firsthand the variances in university life experiences for students originating from my continent, Africa.
“The fundamental role that the Cuppy Fund will play is to narrow resource gaps for those who need it the most.”
The fund, which has been donated to the Africa Oxford Initiative, will help students overcome unexpected financial needs and achieve academic excellence.
