Edo election: Davido, Sanwo-Olu’s aide clash
Popular Nigerian singer star, Davido, and Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, have locked horns on social media platform X over political disagreements.
The drama started when Davido took a swipe at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), labelling it “the most dangerous institution in Nigeria.”
His comments came amidst the controversy surrounding the ongoing governorship election in Edo State.

Reacting swiftly, Gawat, an APC stalwart, dismissed Davido’s accusation, responding with a harsh comment. He tweeted, “This tweet means ONLY one thing.”
Davido, a vocal supporter of PDP’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, shot back at Gawat, saying, “U go dey here dey tweet nonsense but any time I’m around your principal, nah you go first carry phone with flash like okirika dey blind person eye.”
Gawat didn’t back down, sharing a clip from Davido’s wedding where the singer praised Governor Sanwo-Olu, calling him “the real 001.”
