Another feather has been added to the cap of celebrity Nigerian comedian and entertainer, Gbadamosi Agbonjor Jonathan, popularly known as MC Edo Pikin as he emerged as the first black comedian to stage a show in the city ot Kettering, United Kingdom.
He successfully connected the United Kingdom city of Keterring with her first dose of Nigerian standup comedy. The predominantly white industrial town located in the North Northamptonshire district, England is also home to a mixed culture of Asians, Arabs and Blacks.
The talented comedian held the city spellbound with his popular show tagged MC Edopikin Undiluted packaged in partnership with Afrovibes Keterring and Riche Rich Global.
It was a packed room of fun-seekers at the event hall at Eden Centre, Montagu St, Kettering. Adjudging the show as the first-of-its-kind, the excited audience were treated to rib-cracking sessions of spontaneous jokes and wisecracks.
The comedy show evoked a sense of nostalgia among African immigrants who have lost touch with home while also giving non-Africans a treat of culture from the homeland.
MC Edopikin ensured that there was no dull moment with his unique staple of comedy. The event featured stars and rising acts from Nigeria and abroad some of whom were handed their first taste of the international stage by the host.
Some of the performing acts include Lasisi Elenu, Nosa Rex, Efe Warryboy, Yannist and Young Chief. Others are MC Lanky, Deacon Famous, Sammyjoke, Hon Madiba, Action, Questionnaire, AJ-Sound and Romeo WJ.
Speaking about the success of the show, MC Edo Pikin, “we were blown away by the reception of the audience and that’s what makes this trip most exciting for me. Also speaking, Sammyjoke, a Benin-based fast rising comedian noted that MC Edopikinv has cemented his place among the greats in Nigerian comedy.
