Singer Oluwafemi Oladapo, popularly known as Slimcase, has criticised the nonstop release of music in the Afrobeats scene, saying “too many songs, too many albums” are making artistes put unnecessary pressure on themselves.

The singer shared his thoughts in a post on his Instagram story, where he reflected on the growing trend among artistes to release multiple projects within a short time.

According to him, many artistes are now dropping too many songs and albums every year, making their music sound repetitive.

He advised them to take breaks like Rihanna to refresh their creativity and return with better work.

He said, “Too many songs too many albums. Una too dey put una self for pressure for this Niger sha. Take a chill pill and be like Rihanna. Do other things and come back give us a fresh vibe. Your sounds are getting boring cus dem be coming too much in a year. I owe dem a song this year and that’s it. It’s only God that is new every morning. Everyday every seconds singles and albums dey kiiii afrobeats gradually it’s not fun anymore.”

Slimcase added that he plans to release only one song this year as part of his effort to avoid falling into the same cycle he criticised.
