Nwabali Pens Emotional Message To Nigerians After AFCON Defeat
Nigerian goalkeeper at the recently concluded African Cup of Nations, (AFCON) has penned an emotional message to Nigerians.
Nigeria lost to host country, Cote D’ Ivoire at the AFCON final having defeated them in the group stage.
Nwabali was astounding, although lost the golden glove award to its South African counterpart, Ronwen Williams, after conceding two goals in the final against the eventual winners.
He wrote on his “X” page; “A disappointing and frustrating end. I deeply apologize to Nigerians. I was once a fan, still a fan and I understand how it feels giving you a disappointing night. We take full responsibility. Thanks for the whole support till the end. I love you all”
The Chippa United FC goalkeeper played his first game for the country against Cote D Ivoire, and ever since has been a mainstay in the team, and was often hailed by the country for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
In contrast, midfielder Alex Iwobi has been subjected to cyberbullying after the final match on Sunday.
Nwabali also showed solidarity for Iwobi, by posting his pictures with a caption which read; “We win together we lose together we are all one Stay strong”
