The festival is celebrated in remembrance of “Ogun”, god of Iron, who is believed to be the first son of Oduduwa, progenitor of the Yoruba people. The festival is held yearly in October. It is one of the biggest festivals on the cultural calendar of lle-Ife.
Speaking at the pre-Olojo Festival Conference, Oba Adeyeye commended the brand for its consistent support.
He made reference to Seamans Schnapps as the original elders’ prayers and blessings drink that has endured in values in the comity of celebrations for joyous events as well as for prayers in invoking the authority of ancestors and deities.
According to him, “it is meant for the elders. If anywhere is dull, Oodua will invite Seamans Schnapps to make the place lively.
“You can only meet it where there is joy and celebration and not where people are mourning. They rebelled against it but the brand keep on waxing stronger. It is used to bake, to embalm the dead, it is used for many positive purposes”.
To demonstrate the blessing potentials and spiritual essence of the brand, Oba Ogunwusi used a bottle of Seamans Schnapps to pray for the team of Grank OAK employees led by the Director of Main Stream, Olubusuyi Olofin and Marketing Manager, Gbemileke Lawal.
In his speech, Olofin said the brand decided to support the Olojo Festival because it is part of its brand promise and purpose as the number one prayer drink which is used for blessings and celebrations.
He added that over the years, “Seamans Schnapps have been known and recognised as an original prayer drink which has traversed generations and yet still relevant and consistent in taste and values while enriching cultures and traditions.”
